In a dense forest, an enormous tree has recently been felled, its trunk lying sideways, becoming a natural delimiter separating two parts of the woodland. The shot is taken during twilight, the lighting low and mystical, throwing long, haunting shadows. Saturated oranges and purples from the setting sun color the scene, highlighting the bristling foliage, while cool greens and blues slowly creep in from the shaded areas.

The camera angle is set low, almost at the ground level, capturing the immensity of the tree and making the forest appear infinite. The focus shifts from the tree’s rough details to the seemingly endless forest in the background. There’s a balance between the enormous fallen tree in the foreground and the tall, untouched trees standing erect in the background. The perspective gives a sense of depth and isolation, the movement of the forest inhabitants the only thing disturbing the ceaseless silence. The absence of human activity makes the forest the main subject; its placement, almost engulfing the entire frame, emphasizing its dominance over the scene.
