Benzofurans inspire a chemical or scientific setting. In dim, green-tinted lighting, we see a chemistry lab at night. The shot is framed from a bird’s eye view. At the center of the frame, there’s a small collection of labeled bottles, the largest one containing a bright green liquid, casting its color on every object in its vicinity.

Repp suggests fabric. In one corner of the lab, we find a lonely lab coat hanging on the wall, woven out of a thick, scratchy fabric visible even from this distance. It disrupts the balance of the shot, drawing the eye away from the center.

Finally, taboulis inspire a sense of the domestic or the homemade. Close to the experiment setup, away from the lab coat, there’s an untouched plate of homemade food – a colorful salad, possibly tabouli, with a fork placed neatly at the side of the plate. Despite being outside the focal point, it successfully adds an unexpected element to this otherwise stark lab environment.

The camera pans across the scene, capturing the quiet, empty space and the ambiguous relationship between the objects in it. The movement is slow, adding a sense of anticipation and mystery. From this perspective, viewers are left to guess who may be working so late in the lab and what their story might be.
